Anti Conflict Arms Trafficking

Page history last edited by Rosa Calabrese 11 years, 1 month ago

Project 4: For an anti-conflict game, what better than to make it about a concept that inevitable relates back to violence? Arms trafficking of course refers to when weapons are smuggled to different areas and across borders. In this game, players imitate the people who are smuggling the weapons and the goal is to successfully move all the merchandise from one side of the border to the other. (Of course this game can also be paralleled to human trafficking or drug trafficking, but I thought that arms trafficking best parodied that anti conflict idea).

2 players (which starts in the designated area at bottom of page), 3 Non players (which start in the designated pink circles)

Rules:

  • two players must work together to move "merchandise" from one side of the board to the other
  • only allowed to move in the four directions with no diagonal
  • non players must be represented with pieces that clearly face in one direction
  • movement of non players: someone rolls a six sided die and all of the non players must move that number of spaces in the direction that they are pointing. when they reach the other side they must turn around and go back the other way. (must always use all of the spaces it is supposed to)
  • non players represent police officers/border patrol who are trying to prevent you from your arms smuggling. If you are caught by them one time you will just lose the merchandise that you are currently holding (permanently) and you are sent back to the beginning. Second time you are caught you are put in jail (and lose the game)
  • The non players move after every time one of the players takes a turn.
  • game time: 5 minutes. it is a timed game and must be completed in the time or else players lose.
  • players must roll the die to see how many spaces they move. must move all spaces they are given except in the last turn where they just need to cross the finish line (the border)
  • players must bring 8 weapons across the border during the game but can only take two from the beginning at a time (they can however split them up between the two after leaving the beginning).
  • If one player gets caught, the other one can still try to complete.
  • if the non player and player land on the same space then the player gets captured.
