Game 1: Inkerceptor

Inkerceptor

Materials:

1 piece of grid paper

3 pens/pencils of varying colors

3 Tokens (optional, depends on grid paper size)

Objectives:

This game is for 2 or 3 players, though only one person serves as the player while the other one or two serve as NPCs. The player’s objective is to use the types of available movement for them to move from one corner of the page to the other. The NPCs must attempt to obstruct the path of the player and prevent them from getting past. If the player reaches the other corner, they win. If they are cut off from their goal, the NPCs win.

Rules:

1.       Set the grid paper down on a flat surface and assign a corner to the player to start from. Then assign the NPCs to occupy the 2 corners adjacent to the players starting position.

2.       The player determines the type of movement for the turn. They may choose to move up to 3 spaces in a straight line (as in through the squares and not hugging the lines) or angularly up to 4 spaces (they must create at least 1 90 degree turn in their movement across the squares). Shade in the pathways that the player and NPCs traverse.

3.       NPCs must mimic the type of movement that the player designates as well as the number of spaces they move, but they are able to decide the directions.

4.       Pathways may not move backwards or sideways. They may also not cross over themselves or leave the grid.

5.       Diagonal movements are not allowed. All movements must have a previous shaded square connected to one side.

6.       If a player makes contact with an NPC path, they lose. Similarly, if they are cut off from reaching the goal, they also lose.

7.       If one person controls the NPCs, they must alternate movements between the two of them. If two people control the NPCs, they take turns moving between player movements.
